Living Room Extravaganza - Captain Extractor
Post-painting
Circa 2026
Captain Extractor places Donald Trump at the centre of a world shaped by crypto, speculation and relentless profit. Surrounded by glowing screens, rising charts and stacks of gold, he appears less as a conventional portrait subject and more as the embodiment of a system in which attention, influence and belief are continually converted into value. In this sense, Trump becomes both ringmaster and product, a figure whose power is inseparable from the spectacle he generates.
The work is not simply about wealth, but about extraction as a cultural condition. Everything is mined, markets, image, politics, desire, even truth itself. Crypto intensifies this logic, presenting profit as speed, volatility and permanent opportunity, while the human cost of such systems is often pushed out of view. Here, the promise of upward movement is everywhere, yet the painting itself is unstable, smeared, fractured and interrupted. The post-painting surface refuses the clean authority of the financial screen.
Within Living Room Extravaganza, the domestic interior becomes a stage for contemporary power. The living room is no longer a place of comfort, but a front-row seat to the fusion of politics, media and speculative capital. Captain Extractor asks what kind of world is produced when everything is available for monetisation, and whether endless profit ultimately reveals power, or a deeper emptiness at its core
