A PLAZA AWAITED HIM
Beyond the columns.
Its surface was tiled with
Interlaced spirals
Of white and black glass.
Thousands of the city's lost souls
Were congregated here
Positioned along the black coils
With geometric precision
Like moths beguiled by light.
They appeared to be of all ages and walks of life
Yet a common purpose bound them.
For they stood perfectly still and silent
With their arms raised
Their faces tilted toward the sky.
