Sleeping Beauty at 4:50 AM

The work begins with a photograph of the artist’s daughter, transformed through a fine-tuned model into a sequence of unfolding, abstracted forms. It draws from Constantin Brâncuși’s Head of a Sleeping Child and Sleeping Muse, where the reclining head becomes a site of reduction, moving from likeness toward an essential, ovoid presence. The figure is continuously folded, softened, and fragmented, echoing Brâncuși’s pursuit of unity through curved surfaces and the elimination of detail, while introducing a digital instability. At the same time, it resonates with surrealist photography’s reconfiguration of the body where the human form becomes both intimate and estranged.
