There is who searches for light in the sky,
and who finds it in the forest, for a single instant, at night.
We want everything to last, for nothing to leave us,
for every light we've lit to stay lit forever.
But maybe we were born for the opposite:
to learn how to let go of what we've just learned to love.
And the only way not to lose everything
is to stop asking the light to stay,
and start being grateful for the moment it chose to shine for us.
