“There’s a limit to closeness, reach it and all unravel.” The captivating patterns seen in collective movement—whether in flocks, herds, schools, or swarms—arise from a behavior known as the selfish herd effect. Each individual instinctively moves toward the center of the group, tightening the formation in a bid for safety. This dynamic motion continues as the group contracts and expands, disperses and regroups, creating an ever-shifting display of coordinated survival. In Allay, noCreative once again positions his cloth in the background, to further explore his revisited narrative: nature as an object. Contemplating how we might only grasp certain natural phenomena through simulations, mimics, or recordings—in the future. A poignant reflection on the nature we once took for granted and the one we now inhabit. Our ongoing destruction, constantly repeated, and reflected in this very moment.
