Sketches for Illuminated: 3

Many of my projects begin with linework. These early forms lay the foundation for what's to come. Even as the work changes and grows, having a common starting point for the works in a project means that the final results share a language. The series feels connected and coherent even through the variations that develop later in the process. Collected here are the early sketches for my series, Illuminated. Inspired by illuminated manuscripts, while drawing on multiple cultural influences, the text-like images are meant to be legible in an emotive sense rather than a literal one.
