Josh Moniz

Believe it or not, I was perfectly safe here. Created on my first surf industry photography assignment for Surfer Magazine in 2017, Josh's momentum and rotation meant that by the time he was landing down i was a solid metre plus away... which for me is plenty. There is somewhat of a dance that you play in the lineup and in the moment as the wave and athlete are coming together. Anticipation and reading of their movement and where you need to be to be safe all just happen. A favourite image of mine that I though id lost the high resolution file after a hard drive failure.
