Barbie's Bane was made in late 2020 in my Brooklyn studio. Dolls and specifically Barbie have been a perennial subject in my work. I think of them as weird personifications of repressed emotions. This piece falls into line with my concept of Resemblagè, which is to physically wear the consumerist detritus of society on the body so that it mimics CGI, photoshop and AI.
