Back in the days before Tinder, Google maps, and texting, my dad, a Yankee from Boston, packed everything he owned into a yellow kayak to paddle his way down the mighty Mississippi River.
He went as far as the river would carry him, and then he sold that beloved yellow kayak for a bus ticket to Texas Christian University.
That trade changed his life.
Because that’s where he met my mum, a Southern belle with a soft drawl and wild hair.
And as my dad likes to say, he traded his beloved yellow kayak for the Yellow Rose of Texas (the state flower).

Yellow-eyed penguins are the rarest in the world... just like my parents.
So this image is for them.
For the love that traveled miles.
For those who are bold enough to know when it’s time to let go of what you love… so you can find who you’re meant to love.
