Portrait of a sadhu on the Ganges River (Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India).
The Manikarnika ghat in the background is one of the oldest and most sacred cremation grounds in all of Hinduism.
The sadhu who looks to the sky with birds flying behind him represents the liberation (moksha) after death from the cycle of reincarnations which, according to the belief of Hinduism, is possible only in a few sacred places like Varanasi.
