I've been out on countless rainy nights in cities around Asia. The streets transform, light bounces from every surface and the whole scene becomes awash with colour.
I will always remember taking this photo, it was one of the first I took in this particular genre of neon cyberpunk photography. I was out for the first time on a rainy night with my camera, I was just shooting everything and was in this flow state knowing that I had found something I wanted to keep on shooting. I found beauty in it all, the neon lights, the reflections, the cables overhead, this cyberpunk world of the future but it was now. My camera at the time was so basic and cheap that it seriously struggled in low-light conditions. Only two shots were salvageable from this shoot, and this was my favourite. I got home, edited it, posted it around and went to sleep. The next morning I remember waking up to so many messages, follows etc, even a message from a Korean newspaper, The Korea Herald, they wanted to do a full page on my photo and the reception it received. I was very happy about all of the love the photo was receiving but it doesn't beat walking for hours on nights like these, exploring every street and hunting for beautiful lights, it's a rush and one that over 6 years later hasn't gotten old.
This is a truly special photo for me, it is where it all begun, my love for neon nights.
