In the track ‘Moonage Daydream’ from the ‘Ziggy Stardust’ album (1972), David Bowie says he’s a lot of things; He’s an alligator, a space invader, a rock 'n' roll bitch amongst others.
Bowie had multiple musical personas; many great periods and looks throughout his career. This makes it hard to narrow down to a single theme, one to make a piece of work around that encapsulates completely one of the most iconic singers of all time.
In that respect the basis for this piece is mostly the ‘Aladdin Sane’ period, but really a conglomeration of two early 1970s looks, combined with his image from his most commercial pop rock career period commencing in the early Eighties with ‘Let’s Dance.’
Although I’ve created a number of Bowie-inspired pieces in the past, this one was spurred specifically by Brett Morgen’s wonderful documentary movie ‘Moonage Daydream’, released Sept 2022, which is akin to a two hour long psychedelic moving collage.
