Chapter 6: Limbo
When a soul is caught between unbearable pain and wanting peace, sometimes the two extremes pull so heavily in opposite directions that the soul itself can reside in a place of limbo until the desire for peace or pain takes over fully. If pain consumes the soul, it will remain in the living world for eternity with no hope of escape and with no purpose but to inflict that pain on the living. Should the soul desire peace it will once again have the choice to cross into the infinite.
