Isolation

Far away from civilization, this shepherd spends several months in his little hut taking care of his yaks. It looks romantic, but life is tough. High altitudes cause temperatures to go below zero, even in summertime. And during the day, it can be hot. Nevertheless, this is the life of many Kyrgyz shepherds in the summer. They stay in the mountains for months and take care of their cattle. This hut is located in the south of Kyrgyzstan, close to the border of China. It took about half a day drive from the nearest town.
