“Birds of a Feather De-Flock Together” is my protest art piece that attempts to draw parallels between a canary in a cage and the mass-surveillance apparatus being built up around us. Placing a live bird directly in front of a Flock Safety camera has the added benefit of forcing its motion activated sensor to record hundreds of useless photos and video clips.
(Disclaimer: Pikachu the Canary is a trained professional and was not harmed for the making of this concept. This is not her actual cage, it was just purchased for the art piece. This was basically a short, out of the house adventure for her. She was kept in the air conditioned car, given cold water, had her food, and was on the incredibly sturdy installation for less than 3 minutes before being carefully brought down and going home with her mom to continue her day chirping away and flying around her house.)
