In the scriptorium tradition of the 11th Century, the Starlight Kirin occupied a position between real and aspirational — a creature too beautiful to be merely invented, too strange to have ever walked the earth. Rendered in illuminated manuscript, it endures as an artefact of emergent machine dreaming.
