R3PLAYING
There’s a moment I can’t seem to leave behind. It was short but heavy. It already passed but still remains. Nothing is happening to me now and no I’m not in danger. But my body doesn’t understand that.
Something small will trigger it and suddenly I’m back there. The fear comes in fast and heavy, like it’s brand new. My chest tightens and my thoughts start racing in every direction at once. It feels like invisible hands are grabbing at me, pulling me apart from the inside and it fucking hurts so much. Not physically. No bruises. No marks. Just pressure. Just panic living in my head over and over.
From the outside I probably look fine. Maybe quiet. Maybe distant. But inside it feels loud and chaotic and I’m slowly losing myself. I want to scream just to break the repetition, but there’s nothing to scream at. It’s just a memory replaying itself with too much detail, too much intensity. My fucking mind keeps trying to fix it, rewrite it, survive it better than I did the first time.
The strange part is knowing it’s only happening in my head and still not being able to stop it. The moment is over, but my nervous system hasn’t caught up. It keeps pulling me back into that same second, over and over, like time got stuck there. And I’m left standing in the present, trying to convince myself that I’m safe while my mind refuses to believe it. I blink my eyes and “Bam”, It starts all over again. At this point I no longer know what's real or what is not. R3playing over and over and over…
“It isn’t that I’m crazy, it’s that the moment won’t fucking stop replaying.”
