Andromeda’s 🌎Landfill 🗑️- Deep Dive
I have always been deeply drawn to the Diver…Read my artist statement to find out why.
The undertone is a narrative that looks at humans in the future as they explore space and time travel - Moving through the universe armed with advanced technology, but still trying to shed some of the problems that plague them back on earth.🌎
"Deep Dive" compels its audience with its magical composition - a subtle blend of visual
commentary on consumerism, consumption and environment - juxtaposed with wondrous
botanical and underwater imagery. From afar, you feel its arresting power and beauty as a whole.
"Deep Dive" has a unique visual perspective. We look through a porthole, into another porthole,
and then into a third. The power of this visual perspective, drawing the viewer in is undeniable.
The number three is significant in that it represents the threefold nature of humankind, i.e.
(1) past, present, future; (2) nature, science, technology; (3) mind, body and soul.
Old botanical illustrations were used to create the sense of unity with nature, like the flora
growing and winding its way through the image - ingraining itself with its surroundings. The
porthole, circular in shape, is a symbol of life and its perpetual cycle. The porthole is like a
keyhole: while you are looking into it (introspective), it is also looking back at you (reflective).
It is as if you are looking through time; almost voyeuristic.
The hexagon is the connecting center of universal
coherence which ties everything together and links everything back. It is the strongest
naturally occurring shape and symbolizes harmony, balance and eternity
