The painting substrate is the artist's
initial vision, and the palette is the
messy substrate on which the values
to achieve this vision are tested. Both
draw from each other in their color
associations and objective despite
differing textural qualities; they are
really one piece together. By
incorporating both in the same work,
an eclectic derivative landscape
