Ego

In Latin the word 'ego' means 'I' . Ego is something we all battle if you look deep within and over time try to adjust. It's a constant struggle to keep your ego in good health. Self-importance, self-esteem, worth, respect, confidence and self-image. Ego can be overpowering for some both positively and negatively. One can be the 'top dog' in their own eyes, dominating conversation with little time to listen to others simultaneously allowing 'ego' to make lifestyle choices to feed the monster while a small ego, one that is underfed can have the opposite effect. This is why there is struggle. In this scene I created the large character as 'Ego', a dominant force constraining the conscious mind depicted here with a powerful ability to hold back the fight against it. The conscious mind trying to move away from EGO into the light of humility, modesty and humbleness. A never ending struggle but a worthy one nonetheless. As with most of my work I use simulation techniques to create complex and abstract forms with dramatic lighting to compliment the dramatic tone I want to convey. The bespoke sound design was again created by me, hints of dream like whines carry a morbid tune with echoes of human struggle and torment from both characters echoing within the mind.
