This is the first successful explosion piece I created. Executed in 2010, after months of extensive trials with small charges, I was finally able to produce a meaningful work through the use of explosives. Debris #1 is a very special piece because it underpinned series of firsts: my first explosion video; the establishment of my first physical studio; the first time I ever directed a videoclip – in this case for a track called M.I.R.I.A.M by Orelha Negra. It is a seminal artwork that holds so much meaning and represents a milestone in my career. For me, destruction is inherent to all forms of creation and this is the purest example of this concept applied to my work. It will now live forever in the blockchain.
