Several months ago, I started work on an open-ended series of highly graphic, powerful images that were born many years ago and refined during a 50-year career as a professional painter. I consider the series to be one of the best I have created in the past 40 years. It is unapologetic in its strength and content in its simplicity. I simply could not have created this work during any other phase of my career; I did not have the skill or sufficient maturity to pull it off.
