Z4 x Lethabo Huma : Florescence

My Gogo’s (Grandma’s) garden is where I discovered a lot about ‘self’ and my creativity. It is what brought life into me and where I found my gift. As I was playing and creating in gogo’s garden as a young girl , I realized that the garden was My Happy Place and this transcended to the symbolism of using flowers in my work to awaken my nostalgia. This artwork was created in collaboration with 3D artist , Z4. If I had to describe the imagery of how my work makes me feel, it’ll have to be through Z4’s artwork,his work is centred around representation of black women & nature. His ability to create a safe space for the characters in his art is quite unparalleled, just by looking, you’re also feeling it. I knew he’d be able to capture the essence of my childhood. Trees in the forest are all connected invisibly through the roots below the soil, and through the energy they exchange, they contribute to one another’s growth – although I have never met many of my collectors, I know we all connected through the love of my art and with their support they’ve contributed to my growth as an artist. Flowers also represent gratitude and I would love to honour my collectors ,and those who helped me on this journey by giving them a token of appreciation (which are floating around the girl) on the’ Florescence by Lethabo Huma’ site that will go live on the 6th of December.
