Hollow

This personal piece symbolizes my recent thoughts. The idiom “A picture can paint a thousand words” is often used to describe works of art. However, I don’t believe that I’ve reached that level of talent yet. So, I hope you don’t mind reading this in order to understand how I’m currently feeling in life. My upbringing was not a financially stable one and I don’t have many fond adolescent memories. As a result, I believed that through working hard every single day my efforts would eventually pay off and I would become happy. I thought money was the solution to all of my problems. Recently my artwork has allowed me financial freedom and the ability to support my family and friends (shoutout TG). Having what I always dreamed of made me realize how foolish my mindset was. I worked so hard and devoted day and night to honing my craft by drawing art piece after art piece non-stop. I destroyed my social life, threw away a chance at love last year- all in hopes that my work would pay off. In a way, it did. I can now buy my dream apartment, car, spoil my friends, and take care of my mom. I should feel happy in life- yet I feel so empty. I should feel happy in life but I don’t. I don’t know what to do or where to go.
