Genesis

"Genesis" was created between 1980 and 82. Fred Weidmann was in his early forties at the time, in Paris on a scholarship. ”"Genesis" contains everything that was important to me at that time and is still the work in which my understanding of the world is best summarized. It is readable like writing from left to right, shows how everything begins in water, how water anticipates the living forms, how water forms skin, sensitively and erotically inventing life. Then things grow endlessly as in a wave ornament, harden and shape life, from plants to aggressive viruses, to finally create solid ground in enormous sediment layers. But that, too, proves to be a springboard into cosmic nothingness, a psychedelic experience, on the far end.”
