Fierro Viejo
Scrap Metal CyberPunk Flying Truck
Created by the authors of the most famous audio meme in Mexico, in collaboration with the first Latin American NFT artist.
Background:
María del Mar Terrón is the voice of the ultra famous recording that all scrap-metal-recycling trucks play all day long around Mexico city, and other places in Latin America.
Anyone who has spent a few days in Mexico city has inevitably heard it.
Originally written by her Dad Marco Antonio Terron, María recorded the ultra famous “se compran colchones..” audio almost 20 years ago. Since then this peculiar recording has become an iconic sound of Mexico city.
In the audio Maria’s voice offers to buy mattresses, refrigerators, ovens, blenders, and scrap metal in general.
Even though María and her Dad hold the audio copyright, they have gained little revenue through the years. This is especially disturbing since María is a single mother of three and lives in a humble home in the suburbs of Mexico City struggling to support her family.
GusGG is the first NFT artist in Latin America since 2016. He’s also a Bitcoin advocate, teacher, public speaker, and promoter of the relevance and benefits of digital collectibles.
His art is strong on illustrations, adding music, animations and augmented reality.
The collaboration:
The main objective is to create an awesome piece of art that could inspire collectors to hold and compensate Maria and her family for contributing to Latin American culture.
We consider NFTs as the most effective instrument for patronage.
This drop is helping María and her family to adopt the technologies that bring opportunities to creators regardless of their geographic location, gender, skin color or socio-economic conditions.
The Artwork:
A flying truck with two robots on board crosses a dark city, in a mysterious atmosphere of shadows and loneliness. It resembles the old trucks buying scrap metal with Mary and her Dad. The voice is offering to buy Drones, Androids, Disintegrators, Bazookas, Microbombs, Triturators, or any crude oil for sale.
Is it possible that a powerful meme can transcend time and space?
Perhaps in some unknown universe, human replicas will keep spreading our ideas, our voices, our memes, but this time in a cyberpunk fashion.
