Alter Ego

This animation was created from a painting I created in 2019 for a gig poster for arguably the biggest and most well respected prog metal band in history. The painting itself has the inner character in its "fully exposed" state and it was practically begging me to animate it (it's such a joy to be able to add another dimension to my oil paintings through animation). Conceptually, this piece expresses the inner darkness we all have that only comes out under the right circumstances, often when it is least expected or desired...like a tightly wound jack in the box that waits in the shadows.
