Temple of the Leaf (2009)

I was very sick in early 2009 and spent many days in the hospital. I kept myself busy by re-reading George R.R. Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" series. The description of the stepped pyramid of Meereen (which become Daenerys' seat of power) really sparked my imagination and as soon as I got back in front of my workstation I sought to create one of my own. I was especially interested in reproducing the gardens on each step. 2009 may have been a lowpoint for me healthwise, but I produced some of my best artwork while under the influence of heavy pain medication. "Temple of the Leaf" is one of my all-time favorite renders and I am proud to mint it as my SuperRare genesis. Created using Lightwave3D and Vue d'Esprit.
