Golden Tree of Life

The Banyan tree is one of the world's biggest and oldest trees. They have a life span of over 200 years and have long aerial roots which grow to the size of a Manhattan block! This meaningful tree has historical & spiritual ties; as a symbol of fertility, life, and resurrection. It served as a source of food -it's bark & roots are still used to treat a variety of disorders in Ayurvedic medicine. Alexander the Great & his army were the first Europeans to encounter the banyan tree when they arrived in India in 326 BC. It's the national tree of India; under the sacred Bodhi tree Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment or "Bodhi" circa 500 BC.
