The Discobolus is a sculpture made around 455 a.C.
The athlete was depicted at the moment when his body, after huddling to gain momentum and gather strength, is about to open and release tension imparting more energy to the throw.
This is undoubtedly his most contemporary version.
It is not a bronze or marble statue, but an animated digital work of art, which through blockchain technology, certifies its uniqueness as an NFT.
In this modern version, the disk in the athlete's hand is a huge Bitcoin.
This metaphor leaves open a question about the work itself and the cryptocurrency phenomenon, where the gesture of throwing Bitcoin gives us no guarantee or certainty of where it might go in the future.
