Artist's Statement:
As an artist, I'm fascinated by the potential of AI to reshape our perceptions of reality. In particular, I've been exploring the idea of the Mandela effect, where people remember events or facts differently from how they actually occurred according to historical data. Using this concept as a starting point, I've been experimenting with AI to transpose logos, modern technology, and brand identities into different eras, creating surreal and thought-provoking artworks that challenge our assumptions about the past and present.
About the Piece:
"Bang & Olufsen Since 1701" is one such artwork, a portrait oil painting in the style of an old Northern Renaissance genre masterpiece. The painting depicts a handsome young man, dressed in a white hoody that feels like it's from the Renaissance era, blissfully listening to a pair of Bang & Olufsen headphones. The headphones themselves are designed to look like a Renaissance religious skull cap, further emphasizing the fusion of old and new. The juxtaposition of the antique setting and modern technology creates a surreal and almost dreamlike quality, inviting viewers to contemplate the ways in which our relationship with technology has evolved over time.
By showing a person enjoying Bang & Olufsen products since the Renaissance period, I'm highlighting the idea that these technologies have been a part of our lives for much longer than we might realize. But the painting also has a deeper message. Bang & Olufsen, in particular, has a rich history of innovation and excellence in sound, dating back to their founding in 1925. By combining this legacy with a historical context, I'm suggesting that our relationship with technology is not just a modern phenomenon, but something that has always been a part of human experience. The New Renaissance Finally, I see this piece as an homage to the potential of AI and the new Renaissance it represents.
Just as Bang & Olufsen has transformed the way we experience sound, AI is revolutionizing the way we create and interact with art. Through the use of cutting-edge technology, we're able to unlock new realms of creativity and push the boundaries of what's possible in the arts.
In this sense, "Bang & Olufsen Since 1701" is not just a painting, but a celebration of the ongoing evolution of humanity and our quest for new and innovative ways of experiencing the world around us.
