Pregnant with life, ideas, and desires, she rules the earth and the sky. Her divine power is expressed in different ways: sensual, feminine, and maternal. Energy flows through the earth to celebrate birth and evolution as animals from all walks of life come together. Guillermo Lorca depicts an apocalyptic scene filled with dramatic details. The gigantic Empress expresses Lorca's interest in the struggle for power that takes place in our environment and nature every day. However, in the distance, fires burn. One might suspect that an explosion indicates something bad. But Lorca challenges us to remember that fire cleanses and gives new life. "The anecdote of when it occurred to me was that in 2015, I was lying on the couch in a sort of trance and started to imagine that I was walking up a small hill while the wind blew lightly. I was very calm, and when I finished climbing the hill, I saw her (the Empress) staring at me with many indescribable creatures climbing up her body and others that seemed to be feeding on her. That image stuck with me, and it took me a few years to find the right moment to work on it and bring it to life." Guillermo Lorca.
