a company cared enough to write them a personal letter when in fact the process is fully automated. 

Such perceptions of thoughtfulness can be converted into profits only if the viewer is sufficiently convinced that someone cared about them. The writing on these cards refers to itself ("Meta"). The text is written as a haiku poem ("Verse").
