Owls not Pigeons - Cinematic City
“Owls not Pigeons” is one of the two experimental pieces I decided to put out first. An experimental video shot in extreme slow motion in Chinatown in San Francisco, showing how epic and majestic pigeons can be. I decided to render the original video through many forms of AI, turning the pigeons into owls, which can represent the opposite of the so-called “Rats of the sky”. Finally I wanted to show the original form of the bird in a rotoscope on top of the AI processed video to get this unique result as I keep exploring different ways to showcase visual art.
I’ve decided to drop 14 unique video art pieces, one every Sunday until the end of 2023.
Why now?
Because I believe the right time to drop art is when the heart desires. I’ve been holding this work for such a long time, waiting for the right time to do it. Now is the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new one in my creative journey.
I didn’t do this work for the money, I created it as an outlet of creativity and exploration.
When did it start?
The idea started in 2013 when, eager to express ideas in a visual manner, I learned that slow motion cinema and documentary film were creative modes that I needed to combine. Only through web3 and AI have I been able to merge these ideas and finally release my results to the world.
What is Cinematic City?
It is the journey in which I have discovered my voice as an author and artist aside from a film director. The urge to tell stories in a different way using a medium like video, understanding that cities speak to me, utilizing my own exploration of tools and their evolution to express these narratives.
What is the goal?
To release this work into the universe and to consolidate a voice and style in the art community. My dream is to exhibit these collections in a museum, gallery, and spaces around the world that embrace video art.
What is the price?
No amount of money I put justifies the amount of hours and time invested into each video. More than monetary value, I really want each piece to make it into the right hands, the right collector that understands my journey and values my work beyond what most see. I will price each item at 0.369 eth just to pick a meaningful number.
What's next?
When the collection sells, I will announce the plans for my next project, Cinematic Chaos. All holders of these Cinematic Cities will receive a private message announcing the next collection, and whatever perks make sense at the time of the next blockchain cycle.
