Reina, Metamodernism series
Luis Toledo Laprisamata
Metamodernism is the title of the new series of digital artworks by the Madrid-based artist Luis Toledo Laprisamata, which is presented as an exploration of the visual hyperstimulation that characterizes our time. Laprisamata draws inspiration from various cultural sources, from classical art to television, religious art, animation series, comics, pop culture, graffiti, internet and digital art, to create complex and detailed compositions that challenge the viewer's gaze.
Metamodernism is part of the philosophical and aesthetic movement of the same name, which emerges as a response to postmodernism and seeks a synthesis between modernism and postmodernism, oscillating between seriousness and irony, naivety and pragmatism, idealism and realism. Laprisamata appropriates elements from different periods and contexts, and combines them with digital techniques to create a metamodern art that reflects the diversity and complexity of our world.
