NOTIZEN
burst_ artwork 162 - NOTIZEN:
I created this piece around 2019–2020 in my tiny beachfront studio in Huanchaco, Peru. The Pacific was right there, waves rolling in, life felt slow, sunny, and completely unhurried. My workspace was covered in scraps - bits of paper, cardboard, receipts - all scribbled with notes, lists, ideas, crossings-out. Out of that beautiful chaos I built this work. The surface is deep black (an oean deep blackness at night), flooded with rows and rows of my signature “HAHAHA” in white-repetitive, almost manic, framing one torn fragment glued dead center.
That central scrap is dense with my handwriting: cryptic abbreviations (“EDFEKT”, “PCB”, “Schön”, “proprier”, “Bauher”, "MAYBE", "FUCK", SUPER"), spirals, numbers, tiny diagrams, arrows, a small boxed emblem - everything colliding in frantic layers.
By then my HAHA motif on black was already established, a personal code that’s part celebration, part irony, part defiance. Jean-Michel Basquiat was very much in my head - his crowns, his crossed-out lists, his raw street-poet energy. I wanted to echo that aesthetic but make it my own, filtered through the tropical ease of those Huanchaco days.
If you collect this, you get both: the original physical painting on paper + the minted digital edition with AR. From those scattered beachside notes in 2019 to this permanent place on the blockchain in 2026, NOTIZEN carries the memory of easy living, obsessive repetition, and the stubborn life of the handwritten mark.
Huanchaco’s shore to Vienna’s archive - this one will continue to laugh across time.
