This artwork, influenced by the "Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Fundamental Vow Sutra," depicts the Bodhisattva amid diverse faces and celestial designs, symbolizing a multitude of realms where karmic consequences unfold, not limited to hells but varying across millions of worlds. Each detail reflects the sutra's revelation of the vast and varied karmic experiences, as well as the presence or absence of hells, genders, and Buddha-dharma. The piece conveys the breadth of karma's reach and the spiritual nuances of different existences.
‘The Way of the Bodhisattva’ is a deeply personal series for me.
Though it unfolds across sci-fi, multidimensional realms - from heaven to hell and throughout the physical universe - it is rooted in my own lived experience: meditation, psychedelic visions, lucid dreaming, and states of weightless awareness.
‘The Way of the Bodhisattva’ brings together figurative language and Buddhist teachings on compassion and awakening. It weaves together influences from Moebius, Kilian Eng, H.R. Giger, and traditional Tibetan thangka painting into a single visual tapestry.
By merging ancient iconography with futuristic architecture, the series opens a dialogue on the path to enlightenment - balancing timeless wisdom with contemporary vision.
