Kukulkan was the Mayan savior deity, analogous to Christ of the Old World and Quetzalcoatl of the Aztecs. The artwork depicts Kukulkan in Serpent form receiving the key of wisdom from an ethereal entity. This interaction is mirrored in the dark stone representation of Kukulkan in the upper left corner. You will notice that the golden texture on Kukulkan's body is used on the tentacles around the scene. What could be the purpose for that? And who is that little floating being?
