Integrating real world photographs into my images is becoming an important thread in my work. Here I have used a photograph by Felipe Cardoso of a young woman which is overlaid by one of my feather spirals. The palette and the whole image has been worked to include the famous wood cut image of 'The Great Wave' by the Japanese master, Hokusai. Tiny wavelets adorn and emphasise the lips and other features of the model. It is as though her face has been adorned with a tattoo by the master himself.
