When a system is archaic, but civilisation continues to grow, the methods we use to keep things under control are long outdated. Conservation can be dangerous, and old fashioned values collapse under themselves. This piece is a metaphor to suggest that we need to integrate emotion and logic, educate for compassion and to find a better solution. Otherwise there is no alternative but entropy, as we are starting to see.
