May 22, 2010 was the historic date of the first documented real world purchase using bitcoin. Laszlo Hanyecz (aka laszlo) paid Jeremy Sturdivant (aka jercos) 10,000 bitcoin for two pizzas. Details of the transaction are embedded in the art. This includes the correspondence confirming the transaction, the USD cost of the two pizzas (subtotal on the receipt), and the actual value of bitcoin in USD at the time of the transaction (total on the receipt). Fun Fact: Even at the time, the transaction yielded jercos a healthy return.
