Anyone who heard the name "GameStop" a few days ago probably thought of the company, which was on the verge of bankruptcy. But whoever thinks of "GameStop" today probably thinks of the biggest scandal in the stock market in recent decades. Within a few days, the value of the company rose 200-fold in some cases!
The run on the stock continued until investment platforms banned trading in the stock. First and foremost was the trading platform "Robinhood". The boom came about because members of a Reddit sub-forum banded together and collectively bought the company's stock in an attempt to "destroy" the teaching buys of the big hedge funds. They accuse the big hedge funds of deliberately sabotaging companies with their practices.
