"This is the only picture I have of myself from before I transitioned. I was 21 and now I see how handsome I was. But then my body dysmorphia made me disconnected from the image I saw in the mirror, I saw a distorted image. This was 1999, being feminine gay wasn't accepted then so I was trying to look so macho. the next ten years felt like a vacuum, as if I was frozen. This is someone I have left behind and now I eat life." -Gersande Spelsberg.
