"The Future Starts Slow" is Travis's 50th work on SuperRare celebrating 3 years since creating his first work on the platform on April 16th, 2018. His work is featured in the editorial "The Future Starts Slow" published at https://editorial.superrare.co/2021/04/16/the-future-starts-slow/ on April 16th, 2021. This work is part of his series “Color, Balance” where bodily artifacts removed from fashion photography become the base for paintings he creates in Photoshop. Travis adds subtle layers of digital paint and pushes pixels to blend the figure’s remnants into the background. He uses color as a spatial feature, shifting away the boundary of the body to further blur lines between abstraction and figuration.
