The Hoarder

The Hoarder The Hoarder is the first micro horror movie created exclusively as an NFT on @SupeRare while freely available on social media, YouTube, Vimeo and www.KennySchachter.art. I have been voraciously squirreling away art for 30 years. It’s a disease, a compulsion, an obsession. I never fully took stock of the hoard until a recent trip to my London storage (1/3 across the Atlantic) when my assistant mentioned she had inventoried over 1,500 pieces in that site alone. I never asked her to count—I don’t even know exactly how much money I’ve made in any given year, only how to what extent the warehouse bills go up. When I returned to New York, surrounded by artworks in my office, I felt suffocated, a feeling I never experienced before. In the past 2 years, I have had a series of single owner auctions entitled The Hoarder in order to contend with just such an illness. The title came from newspaper articles I have read when an elderly person, usually living alone, literally drowns in a sea of their stuff. This micro movie is tailor made for our social media shortened attention spans—but a real fright nevertheless—for me anyway. Kenny Schachter
