The great birds of Havishian were once kings and queens who had been lured across the threshold to the realm of the First Tree by the ghostly voices who tempted them with promises of glory. If they ate the leaves, they would be transformed, becoming gods. Upon their first taste, their skins became a plumage of emerald green and their arms bloomed as wings. Although divine, they could not return to their kingdom. In time, having devoured the entire tree, they grew black with hunger, forced to feed on the people who dared to come into their domain. 4950x3275 PNG
