The town sat silent, much how I imagined it to have 200 years ago when slaves crossed the river here to freedom. Those were my ancestors and this climb felt like much more of a spiritual experience than anything. I slept inside the bridge and waited for the light to come but as dawn approached I was encapsulated in an ethereal blue fog. Where once my ancestors found their freedom I couldn't help but feeling in that moment their spirits met with me as I was finding mine.
