Squidward's Game

According to Carl Jung, we all have a desire for violence that society tries to suppress so that there is law and order in our cities. Jung believed that this was why modern man read crime thrillers and got excited about war, it was a way to get a taste of this forbidden fruit. Even today we enjoy violence in our entertainment, case and example being Squid Games where people are senselessly killed while competing in childish activities. Squid Games vilifies the VIPs who pay to watch the event live, but are we the audience who watch the series any better than them? Was Squid Games a global success because Jung was right about our communal lust for blood? And is it this suppression of our dark desires that makes some people, like the character Squidward in the show Spongebob, feel like their lives are void of meaning?
