Tide palette represents my love and fear of the ocean. It’s about the peace and violence within the cerulean sea. I’ve always had a tremendous love for the ocean. That changed after two horrifying experiences: one involving a riptide and the other involving three broken ribs. I didn’t look at the ocean the same after those experiences. I thought, “three strikes and you’re out...I’m on my second and not risking the third.” It’s a rational fear. Needless to say, something I needed to get over. This piece is about getting through the fear. In other words, simply diving in.
