Stasis II - Dominion

Stasis II - Dominion, observes the progressive behavior of the ocean through it's dynamic between chaotic turbulence, controlled stillness, and the confrontational perspective of the viewer. The philosophical context for the work directly emphasizes man's desire and dominion over nature. By simulating a controlled substance through confinement, the simulation progressively calms across it's lifecycle. The music composition supports the concept of progressive control. The harmonic material follows a lament motion, with sound design alterations by changing the speed of the mastered work, then re-synthesizing the music back into the original score. Through this process, supported by recordings of the oceans altered with synthesis and spectrograms, the composition mimics these progressive behaviors found in man.
